Lampard declines invitation from Canadian Soccer Association
Reports indicate that the Canadian Soccer Association had previously hoped for Frank Lampard to take over as the national team coach, but they have now been turned down.
According to The Telegraph, Lampard was an unexpected candidate for the position of head coach of the Canadian national team. However, it is understood that after preliminary discussions, Lampard deemed the job with the Canadian national team not to be the right opportunity for his return to coaching.
Since serving as interim manager for Chelsea at the end of last season, Lampard has remained without a job. The Canadian Soccer Association had included him on their list of candidates for the national team head coach position, hoping he would take charge and lead the team into the 2026 World Cup.
Before the friendly matches against Brazil and Belgium last month, the former Chelsea midfielder was spotted attending England's training sessions, indicating his desire to return to the coaching sidelines. However, it appears he is more inclined to wait for the right opportunity. The Canadian Soccer Association now has to shift their focus to other candidates.
